Inanna Descends

Along this odyssey, fire's a certainty
Gales ablaze consume charcoal to breathe
Where imps dance in scarlet dozens
Teeth the size of skinner's knives ...

I cannot recount every burning
Burning's a long memory
Begun in an irises' ember eyes
Alighting wings the span of skies ...

Alive again is sand to glass,
Skin to bone wrapped in iron scalding
Miracles made in impassioned brevity
The steady settling of ash
Surrenders a subtle suffering

I cannot recall every burning
Burning's an endless malady
Begun in sighs disintegrating grey
Churning in cinders, breath again
