Welcome to a new video series that breaks down elements of suffering or psychological danger in the modern world and how I've learned to work with them. It's more than getting rid of the problems, it's about stealing the power of our inner 'demons'.
A year and a half ago I was sitting in a bathtub with a razor blade in hand, fingers steady and treading a violet line.
Today I am somebody I always wanted to have the courage to be but never was quite sure I had the strength to become. I am far from the ideal version I continue to imagine, but I no longer fantasise about being the wielder of my own death. Today, I am thrilled to live, experience suffering, and learn from it.
Life is full of insurmountable obstacles. In the modern age, mental illness, anxiety, depression, and fear thrives. We live in cityscapes of hellish nightmares wherein we are the conjurer of our worst machinations, the craftsmen of mazes we design for our own acute tortures.
Yet sometimes all it takes is a conversation, a discussion, to remind ourselves of who we are and where we’re going.
I know what it’s like to want to end it all.
Now I’ve taught myself how to hope the story never ends.
Although I love The Mania Podcast and am devoted to both its stories and mission statement, I am committed to communicating effective ways to live as artists, writers, entrepreneurs, or simply people of passion. Or even just with mental illness.
I don’t have a large circle of friends, so instead, this popped out.
Enjoy the video. I encourage everybody to discuss their own thoughts either here or in the comments.
